GOAL IS TO HAVE US DRIVING ON NEW MO 5 BY END OF 2009

Right from the start, maximum acceleration of the relocated MO 5 was recognized as important by MoDOT, and the contractor, McAninch Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa.
And it’s happening!
In fact, this excavation and grading contract may be finished ahead of time. And remember that it is the largest grading project in MoDOT history at a cost of $44.3 million.
As of early October, the massive trucks, excavators and dozers many the largest ever made by Caterpillar -- have moved more than 6 million of the more than 7 million cubic yards of rock and soil in this job.
Although the contractor had until August, 2008, the job currently is ahead of schedule. As a result, MoDOT plans to take contractor bids to pave the new highway this December, so that the contractor can be ready to start ahead of schedule next year.
Bottom line we should be driving on the new, MO 5 as promised in 2009. The section serving the new Camdenton high school south of US54 will be opened first to provide new access and safety for this important area at the earliest possible date.
Well done…everybody! A new economic lifeline for Camden County and the Lake of the Ozarks will be here soon!
